We get a lot of questions from visitors about Myrtle Beach. After all, more than 14 million people visit the Myrtle Beach area every year, and they’re bound to have some questions. Your unit key codes automatically activate at 4:00 p.m. on the day of your arrival and deactivate at 11 a.m. on day of your departure.
- If you are staying at the Palms Resort, you can park anywhere around the two pink Palms towers or the two pink parking garages directly across Ocean Boulevard. The Palms HOA does not allow motorcycles, scooters, trailers or golf carts to be parked in the lots or garages.
- If you are staying at the Carolinian, park in the parking garage on Withers Avenue – one street off the beach.
- Your parking pass must be displayed at all times at either resort. Towing is enforced and we are not responsible for those charges.
Unfortunately, the Palms Resort HOA does not allow motorcycles or trailers to be parked in any of the lots or garages.
Linens and towels are provided in our condos. All beds are made up for your arrival. Daily housekeeping service is not included. Housekeepers will be by daily to collect dirty towels and exchange them for clean ones.
We’re sorry to say that the Palms Resort HOA does not allow pets at the resort.
Myrtle Beach Services and Regulations
In South Carolina, any vehicle displaying a valid handicapped, Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans or Medal of Honor license tag, or a valid and official handicapped hang tag, may park for free at any public-operated parking meter. If your vehicle displays one of these, then you do not have to pay a municipal parking meter anywhere in South Carolina. Of course, city buildings have designated handicapped parking spaces.
The City of Myrtle Beach provides beach wheelchairs, free of charge, to residents and visitors alike who visit the city’s beaches. The wheelchairs are distributed on a first come, first served basis due to popularity of the service and total number of wheelchairs available. Beach wheelchairs are given to beach patrons for use for one calendar day, after which the wheelchair must be returned to the City of Myrtle Beach by 5:00 p.m. on the same day the wheelchair is delivered. Weather permitting, delivery times are between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., seven days a week, excluding off-season city holidays. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, only circular umbrellas, up to seven-and-a-half feet in diameter, are allowed. From the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day, tents and canopies up to 12-by-12 square feet are allowed. Umbrellas must be in line with or behind the lifeguards’ line of umbrellas or landward of the mean high tide line. Tents and canopies, when allowed, must be 10 feet behind the established umbrella line.</p>
<p>Items may not be set up on the beach before 8:00 a.m. and must be removed from the beach by 7:00 p.m. daily.</p>
<p>You can rent umbrellas and chairs from the lifeguards on duty
- Alcohol is NOT allowed on the beach.
- Glass containers and bottles are NOT allowed on the beach.
- It is illegal to disturb or damage the dunes, the sand fencing or the sea grass oats. Stay on the boardwalks and marked paths!
- Aquatic activity (swimming, surfing, etc.) is not allowed within 75 yards of a pier.
- Metal detecting is allowed on the public beach, but NOT in the dunes, the street ends or any other public property.
- Littering is illegal. Please use trash and recycling containers provided.
- It is illegal to discharge, sell, store or possess fireworks within the city, including the beach. Fireworks displays by pyrotechnic professionals may be approved if permitted and supervised.
- All fires are prohibited on the beach, including barbecues and bonfires.
- Commercial activity is prohibited on the public beach. Non-commercial weddings (where no one is being paid) are allowed without a permit. Commercial weddings are not allowed.
- “Thong” style bathing suits are not allowed on the beach or in public.
- Violations of these ordinances are misdemeanors, subject to a fine of up to $500 and/or 30 days in jail, upon conviction. For more information, download our Beach Safety brochure.
